Accelerated BSN Admissions Overview
The Averett University Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program in Norfolk, Virginia, offers an all-access, accelerated path to a rewarding career in nursing. To qualify for admission into our 16-month program, you must first meet our admissions criteria, which include a minimum number of prior college credits, successful completion of prerequisite coursework and a proficient score on the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) exam.
The Averett ABSN program offers three start dates per year, in January, May and August, so you can begin your studies as soon as is convenient for you.

What are the ABSN program start dates?
The Averett University ABSN program offers three start dates per year, in January, May and August.
What are the ABSN program admissions requirements?
To be eligible to enroll in our ABSN program, you must have a non-nursing bachelor’s degree OR have completed at least 60 non-nursing credits from a regionally accredited higher education institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 across all prior institutions.
Additional requirements include successful completion of prerequisite requirements, general education credits (for advanced standing students) and passing the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) exam. What prerequisites do I need to complete to be eligible for this program?
To qualify for enrollment in the Averett ABSN program, you must complete or show you have completed the five ABSN prerequisite courses within our specified grade requirements.
Your admissions advisor can review your unofficial transcripts and determine if any of your prior undergraduate credits count toward this requirement. He or she can also help you sign up for any outstanding ABSN prerequisites, the majority of which can be completed online through Averett University.
